Job Description

The Petroleum Geologist integrates subsurface geological data to support exploration and field development activities across Suriname's oil and gas blocks. Using advanced software tools and a deep understanding of stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology, this role provides critical geological insights that drive well placement, reserves estimation, and development planning decisions.

Responsibilities

Geological Interpretation & Mapping

  • Interpret seismic data, well logs, and core data to define reservoir geometry and quality.
  • Develop geological models, cross-sections, and maps using Petrel and/or Kingdom software.
  • Integrate petrophysical analysis with geological interpretation for reservoir characterization.
  • Generate play concepts and prospect inventories for exploration evaluations.

Field Development Support

  • Provide geological input to field development plans, well location selection, and AFEs.
  • Support drilling operations as required with geological well site guidance.
  • Collaborate with petrophysicists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers.

Reserves & Reporting

  • Contribute to PRMS-compliant reserves certification and volumetric analysis.
  • Prepare technical papers, management reports, and regulatory submissions.
  • Represent geological findings in AAPG/SPE technical sessions.

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc in Geology, Petroleum Geology, or related geoscience discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of petroleum geology experience in oil and gas exploration/development.
  • Proficiency in Petrel and/or Kingdom geological software (mandatory).
  • SPE and/or AAPG membership.
  • Strong knowledge of Cretaceous stratigraphy in deepwater West Africa / South America analogues preferred.
